Elevate Music Therapy Accepts These Medicaid Waivers:

Our team at Elevate Music Therapy is experienced in working with families utilizing Medicaid waivers. We currently accept the following Medicaid Waivers for music therapy services:

  • Children's Extensive Support (CES) Waiver: This waiver provides services and supports for children and youth (birth through age 20) with a diagnosis of a developmental disability who require extensive support. Music therapy can be a key component of the individualized plan under this waiver.

  • Supported Living Services (SLS) Waiver: This waiver provides services and supports to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities living in their own homes or with their families. Music therapy can be utilized to enhance communication, social skills, and overall quality of life.

  • Children with Complex Health Needs (CHN) Waiver: This waiver provides benefits for children with complex health needs and/or life limiting illnesses.

  • Children's Habilitation Residential Program (CHRP) Waiver: This waiver provides services for children and youth who have an intellectual or developmental disability, very high needs or a serious emotional disturbance. Their needs for support put them at risk of, or in need of, out-of-home placement. Waiver services help children and youth learn and maintain the skills needed to live in their communities.

Important Note: Eligibility for these waivers is determined by the State of Colorado, based on specific criteria related to diagnosis, functional limitations, and level of need. We are here to help you understand the process and your options, but we do not directly determine waiver eligibility

Common Questions About Medicaid Waivers & Music Therapy

What is a Medicaid Waiver?
A Medicaid waiver is a program that allows states to provide services to people in their homes and communities instead of institutions, making long-term care more accessible and often more cost-effective. In Colorado, specific waivers include music therapy as a covered service.
How do I know if I'm eligible for a Medicaid Waiver in Colorado?
Eligibility for Colorado Medicaid Waivers is based on several factors including age, income, disability status, and level of care needed. The best way to determine if you or your loved one is eligible is to contact your local Single Entry Point (SEP) agency or a Case Manager.
Can I use my waiver for both individual and group music therapy?
Yes, depending on your individualized service plan and the specific waiver, music therapy services provided through a waiver can often include both individual (1:1) and group therapy sessions.
What if I don't have a Medicaid Waiver?
Even if you don't have a Medicaid Waiver, we're here to help! Elevate Music Therapy accepts private pay clients, and we can discuss payment options during your initial consultation. Our goal is to make quality music therapy accessible to as many families as possible.
How long does the waiver application process take?
The application process for Medicaid Waivers can vary in length depending on individual circumstances and state processing times. It's best to start the process as early as possible and stay in regular communication with your Case Manager.
Do you help with the waiver application?
While we cannot directly complete the waiver application for you, our team can guide you through understanding the process, provide necessary documentation for music therapy services, and help you connect with the appropriate state resources to facilitate your application.
Is music therapy proven to be effective for developmental disabilities?
Absolutely! Extensive research supports the effectiveness of music therapy for individuals with developmental disabilities. It can significantly improve communication skills, social interaction, cognitive function, motor skills, emotional regulation, and self-expression.
